Session 1: Become the Leader Your Business Needs

Facilitated by Kimber Armstrong, Program Director, BRIDGE Small Business Growth Cohort, Strategic Partnerships Lead, BBB Greater Atlanta

Session 1: Become the Leader Your Business Needs

This session invites participants to step beyond the day-to-day demands of running a business and consider who they are becoming as leaders. Through DiSC, group discussion, and individual reflection, participants explore how their natural behavioral styles influence the way they communicate, make decisions, solve problems, and work with others.

The session emphasizes that effective leadership begins with self-awareness, personal authority, and intentional action. Participants reflect on four key questions:

  • Who are you as a leader?
  • What do you stand for?
  • Where have you given away authority that belongs to you?
  • What must you become next?

Participants are also introduced to their Leadership Peer Groups, designed to provide participant-led accountability, application, and connection throughout the cohort.

The session reinforces an important leadership principle: strong leadership is not about controlling every transaction or outcome. It is about creating the conditions for success, giving people ownership, and building systems that can work without requiring your constant presence.

Key takeaway: Your business can only grow as far as your leadership is willing to grow. Know yourself, own your role, trust the process, and lead with intention.
